While my professional experience in libraries has been limited to date, I have experience in community development and information management. I hope to apply the skills I have obtained to library work as I progress in my MLIS degree.

First Term Representative on the UWO MLIS Student Council – 2013-Present
I represent the Fall 2013 cohort of MLIS students at the University of Western Ontario in the MLIS Student Council. To date I have acted as a mediator for the 2013 FIMS Con graduate student conference and will participate in further Student Council activities.
First Term Representative on the UWO CLA – 2013-Present
I represent the Fall 2013 cohort of MLIS students at the University of Western Ontario in the Canadian Library Association’s UWO student chapter. I have participated in fundraising activities and am the copy-editor for the upcoming MLIS zine.
Secretary for the Eritrean Muslim Youth Council of North America – 2012-Present
The EMCY is binational group dedicated to developing the North American Eritrean youth community. We offer student support, online programming, and collaborate with the General Board in running a yearly convention. As secretary I maintain all documentation for the EMCY Board. I act as a full participant in all board activities, including providing technical support for our webinar education program.
GTA Representative for the EMCY College Campaign – 2012-Present
The EMCY runs a yearly college campaign as part of our student support services. As senior representative for the Toronto region I provide information regarding scholarships and universities to high school students with this area, and act as point of connection for representatives across university campuses. I organize and maintain our campus mentorship program. I also raise campaign publicity via social networking websites.
Humber Hospital Resource Center – Summer 2008
I volunteered at the Humber River Regional Hospital Resource Centre as they digitized their patron records. I transferred patron information to the new computer system and contacted all prior library users to explain the system change and obtain their consent to transfer records.
